Why Creation Inspired

To capture an image that’s a true reflection of the scene experienced requires patience and a ‘good eye’. In addition, it requires an understanding of the techniques required - equipment, effective composition, exposure and critical timing. All of these can be learned through study, persistence and patience.

No matter how good the photographer may be, there is one thing over which he has no control - the elements. The changing light, seasons, topography, fauna, flora and the effects of time (weathering). All these play a major role in the making of a landscape photograph. It is all of these factors that, when combined at the right moment, stir up an emotional reaction within us that simply exclaims - ‘Wow’!

It is these ‘Wow’ moments that inspire us to get our cameras out and attempt to capture the unique combination of elements that stirred our emotions. To capture and preserve that moment of ‘joy’.

It’s the same emotion that compels the photographer to get up ridiculously early to chase the breaking light or to stay out late to witness the fading embers of the day. Yet the photographer has no influence on any of this. Simply a witness, he reacts to the emotions stirred up within him by all that’s created around him. A ‘gift’ to witness and enjoy.

My photography is a personal reaction (and expression of thanks) to a Creator God who made it all possible. My photography therefore, is ‘Creation inspired’.

With such created beauty all around us, we cannot fail to encounter the question ‘How did it all begin?’
